Book Parade

Today we went to Eli's school to watch their annual Book Parade.  Each student created a float out of something that could be pulled on wheels based on one of their favorite books.  Retired teachers served as the grand marshals.  Then the kids each announced their name, grade, and book title before parading through the hallway.

When Eli first brought home the directions for this project, I asked him which book he wanted to choose.  Without hesitation, he replied with Pete the Cat:  Old MacDonald Had a Farm, a book given to him for Christmas one year by his Great Aunt Julie.  I thought that was the perfect choice since it combined his love of "Pete the Cat" books, his interest in farming, and of course the last name connection!  I have always loved a good school project!  This was just as exciting for me to create as it was for him!
